To overcome these feelings, you must first share with someone else. It is a very difficult thing to do, because if you feel so desperate that suicide seems the only solution, you're probably frightened and ashamed. There is no reason to be ashamed of feeling suicidal and no reason to be ashamed to seek help. You're not alone: many people have felt suicidal when facing difficult times and have survived, usually returning to normal life.
Take the risk to express your feelings to someone you know and who you trust: a family member, friend, social worker or clergy member of your religion. There are several ways to cope and get the necessary support. The despair and the desire to die will not disappear immediately but it will pass in time. For now, find your will to survive is more important than anything else.
